We held our AGM on Monday the 16th of November, with 51 members attending, we heard reports from the Chairman, Secretary & Treasurer. It had been another good year for the Society, maintaining good membership level, varied selection of speakers, two good shows, and two trips, plus that unforgettable evening we held at “The old mill” at Ramsbury, a perfect Summer’s evening, watch this space as we have plans in the pipeline for this year’s open garden evening visit. Also this coming year we have the Spring and Autumn shows to plan for and enjoy, plus our trips & our “Special evening” with our guest speaker, Pippa Greenwood, well known TV & radio broadcaster, on the 7th of March, tickets on sale at club nights, or contact Tina Grice on 638240 or email: email@example.com for tickets & details. Following the AGM business, members broke up into groups of six and enjoyed Tina’s taxing quiz and refreshments, the winner of the members chrysanthemum competition was Mike Gladstonbury & the members monthly competition “any Winter shrub” was won by David Saunders. We were sad to see Gillian Dangerfield & John Smith stand down from the committee, after so many years service to the club, Gillian was presented with a bouquet & John, for fifty years service, with a garden centre voucher and life membership, however we welcome two new members to the committee, Molly Western & Holly Barrand, whom I am sure will make some useful contributions to our committee meetings. Our first meeting this year will be held on Monday 18th of January, with a member’s photographic & slide presentation, skilfully put together, as always, by Norman Mathews. Do not forget to re-new your membership at this meeting, again held at £8 for the year, surely great value for money! Some important dates for your diary: Club meetings every 3rd Monday in the month except December, Pippa Greenwood Monday 7th of March, Spring show 8th/9th April, Plant sale 14th of May, Autumn show 16/17th of September. I will leave you with this seasonable thought, “There is one good thing about snow, it makes your lawn look as good as your neighbours”.
