At our October meeting we saw the welcome return of Eva Rogers, from Witney, a very knowledgeable gardener ,with a talk on herbaceous borders. Eva, with the help of slides offered ideas how to structure an herbaceous border, using shapes & colours, plus the latest ideas on these borders, I know I went home with some good ideas. Our members competition was won by our chairman Gwyne Blackwell, with a very colourful squash, very close decision, as only one point separated the next entry! There will be no Club meeting this month, as it is too close to Christmas, our opening meeting for 2018 will be held on Monday the 15th of January, when our speaker will be Tim Miles, from the Cotswold Wild life park. Just a reminder , we will be having our special speaker Roy Lancaster, on Monday the 5th of March, tickets now available at £10, sorry no concessions , hurry up and purchase them now, as they will be snatched up very quickly, as Roy is a very popular speaker. Well I think that is about all for this article & for this year, so it only remains, on behalf of the Wroughton & District gardener’s Society committee members to wish you all very merry Christmas & a happy gardening New year, and on a final note “ There are two seasonal diversions that ease the bite of Winter, one is the January thaw, the other is the seed catalogues”.
